The incredible 35mm f1.4 Summilux of 1960 was know as the "world's fastest wide-angle"and is a great lens and an enduring classic. Unveild at photokina 1960, a 7-element, 5-group masterprice designedby the legendary Dr. Walter Mandler, created an instant sensation. Lens employed high refractive index, low dispersion lanthanum glass elements to achieve excellent overall performance and extremely low distortion over the entire image field. Only in 1994 when leica debuted with much bigger ASPH version the new lens finally outclassed the old lens in performance, most notisable between f1.4 -f2. When size matter, this little juwel is said to be the smallest, lightest f1.4lens ever made for professional photography.
